Art Events (cont.)

Ansel Adams, Monolith, The Face of Half Dome, Yosemite National Park, California. 1927

Bowers Museum of Cultural Art
The black and white lines throughout the image are very straight and they keep your eye moving, also the use of negative space in the image keeps you focused on the structure of the dome. I love the way this black and white image came together. The Monolith has a strong shadow and seems very powerful in its imagery. This also inspires me to do more black and whites in the future, or to change my images to black and whites through Photoshop.

Octopus, Tim Hawkinson 2006
Photographic collage mounted on foam
The Getty Museum, Los Angeles
Hawkinson uses detail fo human anatomy to create his pictures. To create the suckers on the octopus he uses his mouth and lips to make them look llike the actual suckers of an octopus. With the use of photography Hawkinson manipulates the images into a collage t create a visually stimulating image. I love this image and the creative use of Photoshop throughout it. I feel inspired to an create and image like this one with body parts and the use of Photoshop.
